Deploy vendor-tested firmware to selected IP phones while the rest stay on 3CX-tested firmware.
V20 Update 10 Alpha 2 builds on the first Update 10 Alpha, which introduced MCP support, the standalone 3CX AI Server, the Customer Service AI Agent and programmable voice applications. This release gives Admins more control over IP phone firmware by allowing vendor firmware to be assigned to individual phones rather than changing firmware behaviour system-wide, and adds xAI Grok as a Realtime API provider along with a customisable AI call summary prompt.
Deploy vendor firmware per device
With Alpha 2, vendor-tested firmware can be deployed to individual phones or selected groups of phones without changing the default firmware for the rest of the fleet, meaning Admins can roll out a newer firmware release directly from a vendor such as Yealink or Fanvil before it becomes available as a 3CX-tested package. From Admin Console > Phones, Admins can compare firmware, upgrade to the default Preferred firmware, choose different firmware, or clear a firmware assignment, applying these actions to one phone or several at once.
The Firmware library holds both 3CX Firmware, supplied and tested by 3CX, and Vendor Firmware uploaded by the Admin. Assigning firmware immediately reprovisions registered phones and may reboot them; offline phones apply their assignment when they reconnect, and a scheduled update applies the model's Preferred firmware at a set time, rechecked weekly or monthly.
xAI Grok joins as a Realtime API provider
Update 10 Alpha 2 adds xAI Grok as a Realtime API provider for the built-in 3CX AI Receptionist, Personal Assistant and Customer Service Agent on 3CX AI Edition, adding a second realtime provider and faster first response on the call. Go to Admin > Integrations > AI > Realtime API to select xAI Grok and configure credentials; OpenAI remains available too.
Customise the AI call summary prompt
If transcription is enabled using 3CX AI Server, OpenAI, Google or xAI Grok, Alpha 2 now lets Admins customise the prompt used to generate the Summary, Notes and Action Items call summary format. Go to Admin > Integrations > Transcription > Summary Prompt and select Edit; the Admin Console shows CUSTOM when a custom prompt is in use, and Reset to 3CX Default restores the standard prompt.
Update 10 Alpha 2 is available from an existing Update 10 Alpha installation or from Update 9 via System > Updates in the Admin Console, and is intended for testing and evaluation only, not production systems.
