Every day, customers generate valuable information inside 3CX: calls, agent answers, busy queues, sales conversations and manager reporting needs. The challenge isn't collecting that information, it's finding and using it quickly. With the 3CX MCP Server, customers can connect compatible AI applications such as ChatGPT and Claude to 3CX, letting authorised users ask questions about the PBX, analyse permitted information, generate reports and perform supported actions through natural language, all within the user's existing 3CX permissions.

Ask, analyse, act

A simple way to explain the opportunity to customers:

  • Ask: an authorised user can ask an AI application for information available through their 3CX account, such as extensions, DIDs, queues, recordings or system information.
  • Analyse: the same connection turns PBX data into useful reports and summaries, including queue activity, agent performance and recurring issues, and can turn approved call transcripts into reusable AI knowledge.
  • Act: MCP can also perform supported PBX actions within the connected user's permissions, such as logging agents in or out of queues, assigning DIDs and managing active calls.

Find the business problem first

For many 3CX Partners, the main contact within a customer company is IT, but MCP gives a reason to look beyond IT because the information inside the PBX is useful across the organisation. Rather than opening with a pitch about MCP itself, start with the customer's workflow: what information do they regularly need from 3CX, how do they get it today, how much manual work is involved, and if they could ask 3CX a question through AI, what would they ask first?

That last question often uncovers a real use case, whether it's a support team manually preparing weekly reports, hundreds of transcribed conversations with no easy way to spot recurring questions, or an IT team spending time finding information that could be queried through an AI client instead.

Start with existing customers

Customers are unlikely to ask for MCP by name, they're more likely to say they spend too much time on reports or want to use AI more effectively, and those are the openings to listen for. Partners already understand a customer's PBX, departments, queues and call flows, which puts them in a good position to identify where existing 3CX information can be used more effectively. Start small: one customer, one problem, one useful question, then have the conversation.
